The air was silent and it hung like the fog that had begun to filter through the trees. His breath was hoarse and his perspiration dribbled off his face with each bolt of his bleeding legs. Only half a moon hung in the sky which left a little light through the lake born fog. With blurry vision he tried to see where he was going, unable to stop he managed to dart around a large oak tree. Painful cries, full of fear and torment came from him as he struggled on desperately. His barefoot struck a hidden branch cleverly disguised by plant life and he toppled down into the moss and dirt.
